Meet LeapSprong's new cohort
The City of Amsterdam, Rockstart and Shell’s Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) are excited to welcome eight pioneering startups and scaleups to the second edition of LeapSprong Amsterdam – an open innovation program accelerating sustainable solutions with regional impact. This edition’s focus: flexible solutions for a sustainable industry.
From industrial heat pumps and hydrogen platforms to AI-driven energy optimisation and ocean-based carbon removal - the selected startups bring breakthrough technologies with the potential to reshape industries and fast-track innovative solutions through collaboration.
Who’s on board
Upheat - High-temperature industrial heat pumps that replace fossil fuels with clean electricity and waste heat recovery.
Hexwise - A real-time digital twin platform that transforms industrial cooling systems into smart, self-optimizing assets, reducing energy use, cutting emissions, and boosting uptime.
SnerpaPower - AI-powered SaaS platform for power-intensive industries to optimize energy use, cut costs, and monetize flexibility while enabling greater renewable integration.
HyER Power - Hydrogen-based combined heat and power systems to decarbonize industry and overcome grid congestion.
H2 Terminals - Floating maritime hydrogen platforms tackling land constraints and enabling large-scale hydrogen deployment.
Sea02 - Electrochemical Direct Ocean Capture technology that removes CO₂ from seawater at scale for permanent storage and reuse.
J4 Energy - AI-powered platform that accelerates industrial decarbonization by turning complex energy data into fast, actionable plans.
0Plastic - Decentralized containerized pyrolysis units that convert plastic waste into clean, carbon-neutral diesel fuel.
Igniting the second edition aboard the Clipper
To mark the start of the second edition, ecosystem partners gathered on October 6th aboard Amsterdam’s flagship the Clipper—a fitting venue for a programme that’s all about navigating new frontiers.
“The energy transition is not just about developing new technologies but about bringing systems together. It requires an integrated approach in which we must not only make industry more sustainable, but also our infrastructure, logistics, and cooperation between different sectors. It is precisely here, in the LeapSprong ecosystem, that the opportunities lie to make the necessary connections between innovations and existing industrial structures.”
– Daniëlle Strating, Program Manager Sustainability at North Sea Canal Area (NZKG)
The event brought together key ecosystem partners, including TNO Fast Track, ROM InWest, NZKG, AMS Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions, the Amsterdam Chemistry Network, Royal Haskoning and the Port of Amsterdam. Together, we explored pathways to help these innovations land and scale in the region.

What’s next?
The programme officially kicks off on November 24th, when the new cohort gathers in Amsterdam to begin an exciting journey. The startups will work side by side with government and industry partners on opportunities for a more sustainable industry in the Amsterdam region. With tailored support - from business development and funding pathways to technical expertise and regional collaboration - LeapSprong empowers each startup to scale their solutions and make a real difference.
The LeapSprong team and partners warmly congratulate all selected startups – we’re thrilled to embark on this journey together and can’t wait to see the impact they will make. Welcome aboard!
